Potala Aalu Tarkari or Aalu Parwal (Without Using Onion or Garlic) |
It's the season of "Potala" or Parwal (pointed gourds). I had "Potala Alu Tarkari" (Aalu Parwal or curry of pointed gourds and cubed potatoes) for dinner last night but what made it unique was that the curry didn't have onions or garlic paste as is commonly used in preparing most Indian curries. On days of "Sankranti" and "Purnami" (full moon night), we do not consume anything that has onions or garlic. Since it was Purnami yesterday, so the curry was made without the two. But believe me, the taste of the gravy was as good as it could be!
