One of the fondest memories of winter food from childhood that mummy cooked is Panasa Katha Alu Tarkari (raw jackfruit-potato curry) or Kathal Aalu Curry. I absolutely loved the taste, it almost tasted like mutton curry. The curry was one of my most favourite ones and it still continues to rule my heart. Last evening while I had gone to the vegetable market, my eyes lit up on seeing raw jackfruit being sold, so I bought half a kilo. This morning I once again rang mummy and asked for her recipe and religiously followed each step of her recipe. Tadaaa... the curry indeed came out fantastically well.

Those who are conscious about their health might be put off seeing the above photo with the amount of oil in it but then I firmly believe in dieting (that is -- die eating) :D We all are going to die someday.. so it's probably okay to sometimes give in to heart's desire for some spicy Indian curry with loads of thick gravy (winks).
